Excessive Blushing

There are a lot of concerns-both well-known and not so well-known-that a lot of individuals on earth suffer from. Erythrophobia, or the fear of excessive blushing, is one such relatively unknown fear.

The phobia of excessive blushing is not a rare fear. In fact, it is more widespread than you would think. Many individuals in society have a tendency to blush due to a lot of physical or psychological factors. The reason is usually one or two of those factors, i.e., a mental sensitivity to the personal opinions that others have of you or an overactive nervous system.

However, Erythrophobia stems from a confidence issue and is mainly common in those persons who blush very easily and have a tendency to take the opinions of others seriously. Those individuals become very worried with what they look like when they go red in the face rather than the reason behind it in the first place.

A person suffering from Erythrophobia becomes extremely embarrassed by the reddening of his or her own skin at any given point in time. However, it is not bad skin or a mark on the skin that makes them anxious but an entirely unintentional increased colour on their cheeks. Individuals who have an extreme fear of blushing may furthermore attempt to resist it and totally prevent it from taking place.

Ever observed the manner in which individuals with too much acne become extremely conscious about how they look? People who suffer from the fear of excessive blushing too become equally worried about the redenning of their cheeks. All the time, they attempt not to blush and develop an absolutely irrational fear of excessive blushing.

While this may appear irrational to individuals who do not suffer from the fear of excessive blushing, to sufferers, it appears completely sensible and can have an affect on every aspect of their lives. It can have an affect on the interactions that they have with family and friends and also destroy their job and home lives. There is no aspect of their lives that is left unaffected by their fear.

If an individual suffering from the fear of excessive blushing does not search for aid soon enough, it can cause not only anxiety and depression, but other social phobias too. It can even lead to thoughts of suicide. Sadly, no one can wholly identify with what the sufferer is going through unless they too have experienced the same problem. You can help an individual get the better of his or her fear of excessive blushing by taking no notice of the blush when he or she blushes frequently. In this way, he or she may accept blushing as usual.
