Self-Hypnosis Memory Improvement: Concentration, Retention, Recall
Think about this for a moment. As you sit there right now reading this expose, a stream of information is entering your brain through your sense of sight. But you are also hearing sounds, sensing bodily feelings like the pressure of your seat touching your butt and back, the feeling of the clothing on your body, and the air temperature and movement on your skin. You are also in receipt of information through your nose in the form of smells. And of course, you're taking in data in the form of the different tastes on your lips.
And what about the emotional feelings that you are currently feeling? That's also data that you're currently processing. We reside in an information intensive world. Thanks to the Internet, almost anything and everything that a person might ever want to know is only a few mouse clicks away.
I recently read an editorial that said that even in a tranquil and peaceful atmosphere, we are bombarded by sixty thousand stimuli per second. And that is happening sixty seconds out of each and every minute, and sixty minutes out of each and every hour. And it goes on twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, week in and week out for our entire life.
And that is a big part of the dilemma. We are all being subjected to "information overload." And that makes it very tricky to remember all of the data that we want to memorize or need to be able to remember.
Very often, while we are reading, we discover that our eyes have been traversing the words on the page, while our conscious mind has been off somewhere else on a tangent. When we get to the bottom of the page, we realize that our eyes have seen the words, but we have no conscious remembrance of what we've just read. That's because our mind has been somewhere else thinking about a problem, or working out an assignment.
Today it is an every day occurrence to hear even young people say things like, "I'm having a senior moment." Regardless of your age, and whether you are a student, part of the work force, or a retired senior, I'm sure that you understand what I'm talking about. In our frantic world it is quite often quite difficult to focus your concentration.
SO WHICH OF THE FOLLOWING IS YOUR PROBLEM?
A. Your mind begins to wander as you study, and then suddenly you appreciate that you have no idea what you've read.
B. When you are in a social environment and new acquaintances are introduced to you, you find that you forget their names as rapidly as you hear them.
C. You remember that you have an errand to do in another room; but as soon as you start towards the other room you totally forget what that task is.
D. You can stay focused and absorb new information. But when you take a test, "Test Anxiety" overcomes you and triggers a mental block, and you aren't able to remember the answers to the questions on the examination that you in actual fact know.
The major cause of a person's inability to focus their concentration is stress. And the major cause of a mental block to recall is also stress. So it stands to reason that the more relaxed a person is, the better they will be able to focus their concentration, absorb information, and then be able to recall it at a later date.
Today, hypnotherapy and memory enhancement has become a hot topic. That's partially because hypnosis is a first rate tool for causing a relaxed state of being. As a matter of fact, the very essence of the hypnotic state is relaxation. And as the mind becomes tranquil, the ability to keep the mind focused increases. Similarly, a tranquil mind enhances the capability to retain information, and remember it when it is needed.
Self-hypnosis memory enhancement is a fantastic modality for eliminating test anxiety and mental blocks. There are several hypnotic techniques that can be used to program a student with a positive expectation of relaxation, confidence, and success while taking examinations.
Students can take a course on how to apply hypnotherapy easily and inexpensively in the privacy of their own home by ordering hypnosis CD's. It's easy to locate more information on hypnotherapy to enhance memory and recall in the Hypnosis Research Library located on my website.
